Clients import
What this does
Import lets you add multiple clients at once by uploading a CSV or Excel file. This is the fastest way to migrate existing client data into the workspace.
Before You Start
- Download the template file first — it shows the required column names and format.
- Required columns: Name, Type of Client.
- Optional columns: File No, PAN, TAN, Trade Name, GSTIN, Mobile, Email, etc.
Steps
- In the left sidebar, click Clients → Import.
- Click Download Template to get the sample CSV.
- Fill in your client data in the template. Do not change the column headers.
- Save the file as CSV.
- Click Choose File and select your CSV.
- Click Upload.
The system validates the file and shows a preview with any errors highlighted in red.
- Review the preview. Fix any errors in your CSV and re-upload, or proceed by clicking Import Valid Rows.
Validation Rules
| Error | Cause |
|---|---|
| Name is required | The Name column is blank for a row |
| Invalid GSTIN format | GSTIN doesn't match the 15-character format |
| Invalid PAN format | PAN doesn't match 10-character format |
| Duplicate File No | Two rows have the same File No |
After Import
Imported clients appear immediately in the Client List. You can then edit individual profiles to add contact persons, assign users, and configure tasks applicable.
Tip: To import clients using their GSTIN (which auto-fills name and address from the GST portal), use Clients → Import by GSTIN instead.
