Clients Bulk edit
What this does
Bulk Edit Clients lets you update a specific field — such as Contact Person, GST Passwords, Tags, or Type of Client — across multiple client records at the same time. Instead of opening each client profile individually, you make all changes in a single table and save them in one action.
Before You Start
- You need permission to edit clients (granted by your workspace admin).
- Know which Field Group you want to update before you begin.
- Optionally, use Filter Clients to narrow the list if you only want to edit a subset of clients.
Steps

In the left sidebar, click Clients → Bulk Edit.
The Bulk Edit Clients page opens with a Field Group for Bulk Edit dropdown and the message: "Please select a field group for bulk edit."

Click the Field Group for Bulk Edit dropdown and select the group of fields you want to edit.
The client table loads automatically with all clients listed and an editable column for the selected field group.

(Optional) Click Filter Clients (top right) to narrow the client list before editing.
Use the Basis of Filter dropdown to filter by:

(Optional) Use the Search bar (top right) to find a specific client by File No., Client Name, or Trade Name.

Edit the values directly in the table.
- For tag-style fields like Contact Person, click the field to add a new value. Remove an existing value by clicking the × on its tag.
- Multiple values can be assigned to a single client where applicable.
- Use the Undo (↺) and Redo (↻) buttons in the toolbar to reverse or reapply individual changes.

Click Preview Changes.
A summary screen opens showing all pending changes in a table with the following columns:
Column Description File No. File number of the affected client Name Client name Trade Name Client trade name Field Name The field that was changed Old Value The value before editing New Value The updated value The total number of changes is shown at the top (e.g. Changes (1)).

Review the changes. If anything looks incorrect, click ← Back to Bulk Edit to return and make corrections.

Click Save Changes (top right, blue button) to apply all changes.
A green toast notification confirms:
Changes Processed — All changes have been processed successfully.
Each row in the summary table shows a green Saved badge confirming the update was applied.
Task Categories
When editing the Tasks Applicable field group or filtering by Task Category, the following default categories are available:
- GST — Goods and Services Tax filings and compliance
- Income Tax — ITR and income tax related compliance
- MCA — Ministry of Corporate Affairs / ROC filings
- Others — Any miscellaneous tasks
Note: Your workspace admin can create additional custom task categories to match your firm's requirements.
What Happens Next
All saved changes are immediately reflected in each client's profile. There is no batch queue — changes are applied in real time upon saving.
Validation & Errors
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| No field group selected | Select a field group from the dropdown — the table will not load without it |
| Changes not showing in preview | Ensure you have actually edited a cell; unchanged rows do not appear in the preview |
| Save Changes button not visible | You must be on the Preview Changes screen — click Preview Changes from the edit table first |
